from since their is but little hope they will ever will be heard from I saw his Mother last Sunday she was allmost given him up for lost  I am at Louis while [?]  [?] she wishes to be remembered we all wish to be remembered not only to your family but to Jane and her family and when any of you will write to me I will answer you Mr Green and myself talk of going East this summer if we do not go I think we shall visit your place this summer. Joseph manages our place this summer we may come and improved out place in Warren but we shall not do eather until we hear again from Pulaski This from you affectionate aunt

     Dear friends after so long a time I sit down to write you a few lines to inform you of the health of your friends in this place which is good it has been verry healthy here except among children of about one year old There has been a number of deaths among them of Croup Joseph lost his in february a little girl of one year old they have but one who is in [?] [?] I was at John Browns a short time ago they were well and enjoying themselfs well they have a fine family of children we received a letter from Brother Elias [?] he says the friend are all well then we received one from Pulaski last week from Sacramento City he expect to return home late in the spring or summer he has been trading their and [?] doing good business but the distence from home and the danger of the voyage by sea and Robbers causes great anxiety untill he returns if he should be so happy as to come home safe he has been gone two years a number went from here last sprint among them was Caleb [?] William gorton William was sick their and and started for home the middle of September in company with John Roberts and the husband of Judy Roberts by the name of Mcminn they have not been heard

This is the envelope for the following letter that Jerusha Jones [James Jones Revolutionary Soldier Daughter] March 3 1851 wrote to Mr Truman Eldredge  in Hat Grove [now Roseville] in Warren Co., Illinois.

It was Recd [Received 11 Mch [March]. It was Ans [answered] 14 Mch & sent recpt [receipt].
Below that is the note "For Jennie Greene" [I think this might be Jerusha's nickname.]  
Below that, is "Barry Ill"}
                         Mar 3/51}

"Letter from Jerusha Green written Mch 3rd 1851. addressed to Mr & Mrs Truman Eldridg."
