Triplett Family - Lewis Triplett- Builds new Episcopal Church

When we went on our first "Family History Tour" circa 2012, I went to the Charles  A. Weyerhaeuser/Morrison County Historical Society and was given this clipping about my great grandfather, Lewis [Golson]Triplett. This article reads as:

NEW EPISCOPAL CHURCH

The Contract for Its Construction Let to Lewis Triplett of This City

Monday Aug.3 1903

The contract for the erection of the New Episcopal church on the corner of Fourth street and First avenue northeast was on Saturday let to Lewis Triplett at $6,500. This building will be 90X50 feet in size and architecturally will be one of the handsomest buildings in the city. The lower part of it will be constructed of boulders and the upper part of grout and plastered. This can be colored any desired tint. The work will commence immediately and the building rushed to completion.

This is a picture of the church from our Family History Tour 2012 edition. I called to ask if I can take pictures of the interior but no one ever answered the phone. Will try again.

Greene Family - Shirley Greene - Evening Bulletin Paper Obituary - page 9

I found this notice regarding the death of Shirley Green who was the son of Pulaski and Eliza Green. I am thinking that he possibly died of pneumonia.

And YES! That is his real name - Shirley. According to my grandfather, another Shirley Green (Triplett) the girls stole the name from the boys.

I believe that my grandfather - Shirley Green Triplett, was named for his mother's - Ida Green Triplett - in honor of the brother that she had lost in California.

When Andrew was 2 years old, Andrew, myself, Lorna Winch, and maybe Brian, traveled up HiWay 99 to visit Pulaski and Shirley Greene's gravesite.

The cemetery was a mess! Apparently there had been vandals hacking at some of the monuments. We found Pulaski's marker which had been pushed over, but couldn't find baby Shirley's.

After we had taken a rubbing (which you aren't supposed to do anymore), and were traveling back to my parents house in Fresno, Mom and I looked at each other and said "Shirley's inscription was on the other side of Pulaski's!"

BIRTH 22 Feb 1858
Galt, Sacramento County, California, USA
DEATH 2 Feb 1859 (aged 11 months)
Galt, Sacramento County, California USA
Many years later after we had moved to Casper Wyoming, I had time to look into FindaGrave. And lo and behold there were pictures of the monument, standing upright with pictures of both sides. I believe that there was an organization in Lodi that took over management of the cemetery. They had a fence built around the cemetery with a gate. They had also repaired the stones as much as possible.

At about the same time I figured out what the inscription on Pulaski's side of the monument, but have since lost it. As soon as I find it I will post it.

Triplett Family - Lorna Lee Triplett - Engagement announcement

This is a clipping from The Fresno Guide, Thursday, October 19, 1950. The page in the paper was "SOCIETY and CLUB NEWS", by Ruth Olney. This reads as:

Miss Lorna Triplett,
Myron Winch to Wed

The betrothal of Miss Lorna Triplett to Myron Winch was announced at a barbeque supper given in the garden of the home of the latter's mother. Mrs. Emily Winch, on First Street. On a wall in the home hung two hearts with pictures of the new home being built by the couple. The two names decorated salad molded in heart shape.
The bride-to-be is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Triplett and is a former student at Roosevelt High School. She is employed by Pacific Gas and Electric Company, as is her fiance.
Winch, son of Mrs. Emily Winch of this city and Cecil Winch of Ukiah, was graduated from Fresno High School and served in the army air corps. He is a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Picture inset reads as "Miss Lorna Triplett whose betrothal to Myron Winch was announced during a barbecue supper."

[This was a mixed marriage! Fresno High and Roosevelt High were arch enemies of each other.]
