Rippey Family - Grace Hortense Rippey Triplett Death Record - page 10

This is my grandfather Shirley "Tripp" Triplett's first wife, Grace. I do not know when Grace started to have signs and or symptoms of an intestinal obstruction in early July 1924. I do not know if the family was in Madera or maybe visiting relatives in Southern California.

She entered Cottage Hospital in Burbank California on July 6th, 1924. She then endured a surgical procedure on the 7th July 1924.

Grace passed away on 7 July 1924 at 5:30p.m. The cause of her death is labeled as "Acute Intestinal Obstruction", and that she suffered from this for 4 days.

Grace was buried in Rosedale Cemetery in Burbank California. The Cemetery is "very historic" in the Los Angeles area. The grass is overgrown and the office was not open on weekends. There are still burials going on there. Graves have been placed perpendicular between the rows of graves.

Brian and I walked much of the cemetery and could not find her burial site.

The cemetery is in downtown Los Angeles - one of the worse parts of town. The traffic was horrible getting there and back to Santa Anna in January 2020! I think it's always bumper to bumper.....

Rippey Family - 1900 Rippey Family Census - Grace Hortense Rippey - Page 3

This is the 1900 census for Cripple Creek, Teller County, Colorado. These families were enumerated on the 14th of June 1900. The Rippey family has been enumerated again (10 days later) in 1900. I have never seen this in one of our families ever before. I have heard of this being found by others. But this is a first for me!
The family starts on line 78 with the head of the household, who is William Rippey. [All relationship entries in the household enumeration refer back to the Head of the household.] William is a white married male, who was born in August of 1858. He is 41 years of age, and has been married for 20 years. He was born in Illinois. His father was born in Kentucky, and his mother was born in Ohio. His occupation is "miner". He does not go to school. William can read, write, and speak English. He owns his home, with a mortgage.
Cora F. is next. She is a white, married female (for 20 years), who was born in Oct 1860, so is 39 years old. On this census she says that she has been pregnant 3 times, and has 3 children. She was born in Illinois. Her father was born in New York and her mother was born in Ohio. She can read, write, and speak English. He was born in Missouri, and his parents were born in Illinois. He reads, writes, and speaks English.
Clyde is on line 80. He is William's son. He is a white, unmarried male, who was born in June 1890, so he is 17 years old. He was born in Missouri, and his parents were born in Illinoi. He reads, writes and speaks English.
Grace is on line 81. She is William's daughter. She is a white, unmarried female, who was born in June 1890, so she is 9 or10 years old. [I think she is 10 years old as her birthday is/was June 6.] She is single. She was born in Colorado, and her parents were born in Illinois. She writes, reads, and speaks English.
Charlie is enumerated on Line 82. He is William's son. He is a white, unmarried male, who was born in Feb 1892. so he is 8 years old. He was born in Colorado, and his parents were born in Illinois. He writes, reads, and speaks English.

Rippey Family - 1900 Rippey Family Census - Grace Hortense Rippey - page 1

Grandpa and Grace were cousins through her mother's side, in the "Bills" family line.

Grace was born in Colorado in 1890. Her parents, William E. Rippey and Cora Shields Bills were both born in Illinois. They were married in Pike County Illinois.
After William and Cora were married in 1880, they moved to Missouri where their first child Clyde was born in 1882. The family then moved to Colorado. Grace was born in 1890, and her younger brother Charles was born in 1892.
In the 1900 census, on June 4th, the family was enumerated in Berkeley Town, Arapahoe County Colorado. Grace's mother is counted on the first page. The address of the home I s 229 Park Ave. The family was the 22nd house and the 25th family visited by the enumerator that day. Cora S. Rippey is listed as the head of the household. She is a white female and was born in October 1860. She is 39 years old, and has been married for 19 years. She has been pregnant 5 times and 3 of her children are alive. [I believe that the infants were born and died in Missouri, but I haven't figured that out yet.]
Cora was born in Illinois, her father was born in New York and her mother was born in Ohio. She can read, write and speak English. She rents her home.
