Greene Family - David Green - page 1 - Estate Papers

What I know about our Greene Family.

I received these from a researcher in Pike County Illinois in the mid 1980's. The majority of photo copied records from Pike County were received from her, paid. The Greene family lived in Pike county for 70- 80 years. They originally came from Berlin [now Stephentown], Rensselaer County, New York. Their home county in New York is at the eastern end of the Erie Canal and I often think that they might have traveled through the canal and then onto one of the Great Lakes. From there they would have traveled to Illinois. Eventually they settled in the area of Barry, Pike County. Supposedly the Greenes established an Inn for travelers and early settlers in the 1830s.
