I believe that the handwriting in this book is primarily German.
This is a recipe for making medication that would treat Ophthalmia. We know this condition as "conjunctivitis" or "pink eye". This translation came from Lexicon.
The opposing page 2 is blank and demonstrates "bleed through" phenomena.
