Letters Testamentary
State of Illinois}SS
Pike County     }     The people of the State of Illinois
                                 To all to whom these presents Shall Come Greeting Know ye that wereas, William Mayes late of the County of Pike and State of Illinois died on or about the Twentyeith day of May AD 1852 as it is Said after having duly made and published his last will and Testament, a copy where of is hereunto amended leaving at the time of his death property in this State, which may be lost destroyed or diminished in Value if Speedy Case be not taken of the same, and in as much as John F. Mayes, Executor of the last will & testament of said Testator has resigned his trust as Such executor, and to the End that Said property has resigned his trust as Such Executor, and to the End that Said property My be preserved for those who shall appear to have a legal right or intrust [therein] and that the Said will may be executed acording to the request of the said testator, we do ohereby authorize Joshua Woosley, as Such Executor  [?]now to Collect and Secure all and Singular the goods and Chattels rights and Credits of the Said William Mayes at the time of this deceased in whose [?] ever hands or possession they may be found in this State, and well and truthly to perform and fulfil all such action as may be enjoined upon him by the said Will so for as there Shall be any [purpoly] and the Las Charge him and in general to do and perform all other acts which now and or hereafter may be required of him by Law.
