Jones Family - James Jones Pension - page 75


Indian depridations and Tory excursion's were frequent, Jones was often out on duty to subject or disperce them and on three or four several such duties I was with him- Jones was an officer commissioned in the early part of the war under Capt. James Denison, I know Denison well he was an [active] [delegant] Whig and Committeman untilhe died in December 1778 - Denison wasalso out onduty in  [?] the Bennington and the Saratoga Battles I then and [?] served with and under him. Subscribed and Sworn before Me

STATE OF NEW YORK,}ss.       I, M Thomas Ontario County
Clerk's Office,} Hall  -  Clerk          of said County,

Do  hereby Certify, that Elisha. F. Miller whose name is subscribed to the certificate of the proof or acknowledgment of the annexed instrument, and thereon written, was, at the time of taking such proof or acknowledgment, a Commissioner of Deeds, in and for the County aforsaid, dwelling in the said County, comissioned and sworn, and duly authorized to take the same. AND FURTHER, that I am well acquainted with the hand-writing of such Commissioner, and verily believe that the signature to the said certificate is genuine.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said County, this Seventy eighth day
