Jones Family - James Jones Pension - page 76

Indian [?] predation/and tory excessively when frequent Jones was often out on duty to subject or disperse them And on three or four several such duties I was with him - Jones was an officer commissioned in the early part of the war under Capt James Denison I know Denison well he was an active [delegent] whig and Committeman until he died in December 1778-Denison was also out on duty in both the Bennington and the Saratoga Battles I then and there served with and under him.

Do hereby Certify, That Elisha F. Miller whose name is subscribed to the certificate of the proof or acknowledgment of the annexed instrument, and thereon written, was, at the time of taking such proof or acknowledgement, A Commissioner of Deeds, in and for the County aforesaid, dwelling in the said County, commissioned and sworn, and duly authorized to take the same. AND FURTHER, that I am well acquainted with the hand-writing of such Commissioner, and verily believe that the signature to the said certificate is genuine.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand a affixed the seal of said County, this Twenty eighth day of June    A.D. 1838
